Helen K DoddWest Islip, NY – Thanks to the generosity of the late Helen K. Dodd, a long-time resident of Long Island, Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center’s dialysis patients will benefit from the acquisition of the latest equipment.  Funds from the estate of Mrs. Dodd will soon enable Good Samaritan’s Chronic Dialysis Center in Bay Shore to install 24 new dialysis units.  The center provides more than 30,000 treatments annually, offering lifesaving services for thousands of residents, many of whom are experiencing significant financial hardships.

Mrs. Dodd was committed to alleviating the suffering of others, especially those most in need.  Care for kidney failure patients is provided by the center’s certified RNs, LPNs and dialysis technicians, who are skilled in renal therapy and clinical technology.  The multidisciplinary team also includes renal social workers, registered dietitians and physical therapists.

“This area has a large population of dialysis patients.  They are often in need of additional support in dealing with their chronic illness,” said Administrative Director of Good Samaritan’s Department of Dialysis Patricia Hansen, RN.
