Young Adult Ministry is an outreach of the Catholic Church in the Diocese of Rockville Centre to young adults — women and men in their late twenties, thirties and forties, married and single. Our purpose is to put people in contact with others their own age who share their faith and values, and offer some alternatives to what is currently available in our culture. Our Young Adult Ministry can help put you in contact with other people and programs that respond to your interests and needs. The purpose of this office is to connect young adults with the Catholic Church and one another through spiritual, social, and service opportunities.

Upcoming Events

Are you looking to meet other young adults – thirsting for community and faith – hungering for spiritual nourishment?  Then join us each month for our Faith on Tap Series - an outreach to and collaboration with young adults in the mid twenties, thirties and forties, single and married. Faith on Tap is a genuine and sincere effort to reach out and meet the young adults of this diocese – to listen and to respond to what matters to them as young adults in the Church. There will be an opportunity for those in attendance to offer feedback and ideas for future gatherings. Explore how faith in Christ can speak to your circumstances as a young adult in the Church!

"The Road Goes Ever On .." Christian Symbolism in the Lord of the Rings"

"J.R.R Tolkien's masterpeice of fantasy fiction, The Lord of the Rings, is beloved around the world as a timeless classic. Legions of fans have read and re-read it's pages joining Frodo, Sam and the fellowship on the journey to Mount Doom so many times that we feel like Middle Earth is our home away from home. What many have not seen however, is how Tolkien masterfully wove into his epic tale a layer of Catholicism that when realized by the reader, brings the experience of the Lord of the Rings to an entirely new level.

Join Anthony Gentile for a brand new, first time on Long Island presentation of his talk, "The Road Goes Ever ON...Christian Symbolism in the Lord of the Rings". Building on his last presentation of the Christian Symbolism in the Hobbit, Anthony, will bring us deeper into Tolkien's world of Middle Earth, revealing the main Christian themes and figures in this story while taking us on the familiar journey to Mount Doom and back to the Shire.

Are there Christ Figures? If so, How many? What about the sword reforged?
Lembas? The Return of the King? Houses of Healing? The Dead Men of Dunharrow? Denethor and Saruman's fall from wisdom? Sauron's malice? The Orcs? and of course...The Precious.....

What do they mean and how is our faith hidden in this amazing story?

Find out April 20th at Faith on Tap!"

"It is Jesus in fact that you seek when you dream of happiness, He is waiting for you when nothing else you find satisfies you; He is the beauty to which you are so attracted; it is He who provokes you with that thirst for fulness that will not let you settle for compromise; it is He who urges you to shed the masks of a false life; it is He who reads in your hearts your most genuine choices, the choices that others try to stifle. It is Jesus who stirs in you the desire to do something great with your lives, the will to follow an ideal, the refusal to allow yourselves to be grounded down by mediocrity, the courage to commit yourselves humbly and patiently to improving yourselves and society, making the world more human and more fraternal.

Dear young people, in these noble undertakings you are not alone... so many like you are struggling and through the Lord's grace are winning!"
