Ways to Give

With your generous support of the Catholic Ministries Appeal, we can continue this critical work and expand our services to all of God’s people on Long Island.

Gifts of Cash—Checks should be made payable to the “Catholic Ministries Appeal”.  Please mail your gift card/envelope in the envelope provided.

Pledge Your Gift over Ten Months—A gift to the Catholic Ministries Appeal may be fulfilled over a ten month period.  If possible, please include your first month’s payment when you mail your gift card/envelope.

Matching Gifts—Many corporations endeavor to match the charitable contributions of employees.  Please contact your company’s Human Resources professional to determine if your company participates in a Matching Gift Program.

Credit Card—Take full advantage of the benefits offered by your card, such as bonus/reward points and airlines miles.  You can make a one-time gift or monthly pledge payments using your credit card.  We accept Amex, Discover, MasterCard and Visa.  Simply provide your credit card information on your gift card/envelope.  You may do this on-line, if you prefer, by going to www.drvc.org/cma.html and click on “Credit Card Donations”.  .

Online Giving—The Catholic Ministries Appeal will offer the opportunity to make your gift and pledge payments online using a credit card.  Please go to www.drvc.org/cma.html to make your contribution.

Gift of Securities—Federal tax laws allow a charitable deduction for the full market value of appreciated securities on the date of your gift.  Please call the Appeal office at the telephone number above for special instructions.

Special Tax Advantage--If you are over age 70 ½ and have a “well-funded” traditional IRA, you have until January 1, 2008 to take advantage of a recent change in the tax law, which allows you to donate up to $100,000 from your Individual Retirement Account, tax free to charitable causes.  Since persons older than 70 ½ are required to take a minimum distribution from their IRAs, taxed under current rules, it makes philanthropic and economic sense to gift some or all of your minimum distribution to a qualified not-for-profit organization, such as the Catholic Ministries Appeal.  For more information, we suggest that you contact your financial advisor or call CMA at 516-379-5210, Ext 2.
The RMD funds must come directly from your financial institution to the CMA.  Under no circumstances should you withdraw funds and then contribute them to the CMA.

Should you have any questions about any of the above mentioned ways to give, please contact the CMA office at 516-379-5210, Ext. 2.
