West Islip, NY – The 13th annual Good Samaritan Golf Classic was held at Southward Ho Country Club in Bay Shore in July. Participants enjoyed a day of golf with colleagues and friends, while making a positive difference in the community by supporting Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center. The Golf Classic is always a memorable, as well as meaningful, occasion for the generous benefactors of the medical center. Proceeds from the fund raiser benefit The Good Samaritan Hospital Foundation, enabling Good Samaritan to continue to offer high-quality patient care to the surrounding communities.
The Good Samaritan Golf Classic has become one of the most popular outings on Long Island. The south shore location, Southward Ho, was founded in 1923 and features an 18-hole, championship-level course designed by A.W. Tillinghast. In addition to morning and afternoon sessions on the course, the event included an enhanced cocktail and dessert hour with awards, a live auction and raffle prizes. Since its inception, the Golf Classic has raised more than three million dollars for the medical center.
For the 13th consecutive year, Astoria Federal Savings was the Classic sponsor. Sponsors were offered a significant branding opportunity and high-level exposure to many physicians and corporate leaders from a diverse range of organizations. Other major sponsors included Bower & Lawrence, P.C., Island Acoustics, LLC, Lewis, Johs, Avallone, Aviles, LLP, Wiedersum Associates Architects, PLLC, Turner Construction, ARA Plumbing Corp., Bartlett, McDonough, Bastone & Monaghan, LLP, Hunter EMS, Lessing’s, Inc., Sandler O'Neill & Partners, LP and TD Bank.
