In Christ’s revelations to St. Margaret Mary, He outlined twelve promises which can be obtained by devotion to His Sacred Heart . While we know that God is not, as someone once wrote, a “cosmic vending machine”, dispensing favors for prayer, there are wondrous truths associated with living in Christ and loving His heart.

The Sacred Heart of JesusWhen we adore the Sacred Heart, we are not worshiping a picture or an object; we are in awe of, and devoted to, the living Heart of our Savior, a perfect heart which was wounded for us. Our hearts are not pure, and Christ understands human nature well: “From within their hearts come evil thoughts, impurity, theft, murder, adultery, greed, malice, deceit, licentiousness, envy, blasphemy, arrogance, folly. All these evils come from within and they defile.” (Mark 7:21-23)

When only Love from a pure, undefiled heart could make a difference, Jesus bared His own. Through adoration of the Sacred Heart of Jesus we love all kindness, truth, beauty, justice, mercy, integrity, righteousness, purity, goodness and faithfulness; i.e., we love the Love of God. When we do this, our own hearts become open to God’s graces and open to receiving the promises of His Sacred Heart.

O Lord, in our own hearts we ache for Goodness, for all the beauty that Your heart posseses. Today, through the intercession of St. Margaret Mary Alacoque, please make our hearts like Yours; help us to be the fulfillment of Your promise to bring Your love to the world. Amen!

St. Margaret Mary, pray for us!
