ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. – December 2, 2010 – The Most Reverend William Murphy, bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Rockville Centre, has announced that Pope Benedict XVI has conferred the title of “Monsignor” at the level of Chaplain to His Holiness upon Father William G. Breslawski. Reverend Monsignor Breslawski is currently serving as pastor of Our Lady of Peace parish, Lynbrook.
The honorary title of “Monsignor” is given to Roman Catholic priests as a sign of appreciation and recognition of the service they have rendered, both locally and in the world.
Following his ordination in 1979, Msgr. Breslawski was assigned as associate pastor of Saint Catherine of Sienna parish, Franklin Square. He also served at Our Lady of Perpetual Help parish, Lindenhurst before being named a founding co-pastor of Holy Cross parish, Nesconset in 1988. Msgr. Breslawski later became pastor and remained there until he was appointed pastor at Our Lady of Peace parish, Lynbrook in 2002.

The Diocese of Rockville Centre (www.drvc.org) was formed in 1957 and covers 1,198 square miles in Nassau and Suffolk Counties. The diocese serves approximately 1.5 million Catholics (total population in both counties is approximately 3.4 million). There are 134 parishes (1 campus parish) in 115 towns. In 2009, nearly 16,702 baptisms, 16,900 confirmations, 17,537 first communions and 3,402 marriages took place in the diocese.
