ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. – December 2, 2010 – The Most Reverend William Murphy, bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Rockville Centre, has announced that Pope Benedict XVI has conferred the title of “Monsignor” at the level of Chaplain to His Holiness upon Father Joseph W. Staudt. Reverend Monsignor Staudt is currently serving as pastor of Sacred Heart parish, Cutchogue.
The honorary title of “Monsignor” is given to Roman Catholic priests as a sign of appreciation and recognition of the service they have rendered, both locally and in the world.
Ordained in 1978, Msgr. Staudt served his first assignment at Corpus Christi parish, Mineola. His subsequent assignments included Saint Sylvester parish, Medford and Saint Patrick parish, Bay Shore before becoming pastor of Christ the King, Commack in 1997. He was then named pastor of Sacred Heart parish, Cutchogue in 2007.

The Diocese of Rockville Centre (www.drvc.org) was formed in 1957 and covers 1,198 square miles in Nassau and Suffolk Counties.
