"Who can assure us that we will be alive tomorrow? Let us listen to the voice of our conscience, to the voice of the royal prophet: 'Today, if you hear God's voice, harden not your heart.' Let us not put off from one moment to another (what we should do) because the (next moment) is not yet ours." (St. Padre Pio)
As we close out this month and this year with St. Pio of Pietrelcina, may we remember that all we really have is the present moment. We can try to learn from the past and plan for the future, but today is our most precious gift.
The challenge of the Gospel is new each day and calls us to live in the light of Christ’s love, and to share that love with others. It asks us to look at the little things - the leaven in the bread, the mustard seed, the lost lamb, the salt of the earth – and to pay attention to them the way the Saints did: to use the leaven to spread the Good News, to plant the seed of God's word in our hearts, to tend to the lost lambs in our lives, and to flavor the world with the salt of charity. May we seek the small, and thus find the grandeur of God. Blessed New Year…
St. Padre Pio, please continue to pray for us!
