ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. – May 31, 2011 – The Most Reverend William Murphy, bishop, Roman Catholic Diocese of Rockville Centre appointed Reverend Monsignor Thomas Harold to pastor of Saint Anne parish, Garden City. This appointment becomes effective June 22, 2011.
In 2007, Pope Benedict XVI conferred the papal honor of monsignor upon Father Harold. Since 2000, Msgr. Harold has served Holy Family parish, Valley Stream as pastor. Ordained to the diocesan priesthood in 1991, Msgr. Harold was first assigned to Holy Family parish, Hicksville. In 1996, he was appointed director of the diocesan office of vocations. From 1976-1987, Msgr. Harold was a Marianist Religious Brother and taught English at Chaminade High School.

The Diocese of Rockville Centre (www.drvc.org) was formed in 1957 and covers 1,198 square miles in Nassau and Suffolk Counties. The diocese serves approximately 1.5 million Catholics (total population in both counties is approximately 3.4 million). There are 134 parishes (1 campus parish) in 115 towns. In 2009, nearly 16,702 baptisms, 16,900 confirmations, 17,537 first communions and 3,402 marriages took place in the diocese.
