Rockville Centre, NY — The Council of Leagues of Mercy Medical Center invites the community to join in the annual Christmas Tree of Lights celebration on Tuesday, December 10th at 7:00 p.m.
The ceremony provides the opportunity to recall the need to grow stronger together in our search for peace, with the Tree of Lights representing a beacon of hope and unity in our fragmented world. The blessing and lighting of the Christmas tree will take place in front of the hospital, followed by refreshments served in the Main Lobby.
Mercy’s Christmas tree lighting is an annual fund-raiser sponsored by the Council of Leagues. This year the proceeds will be used to purchase additional equipment for Mercy’s newest outpatient services - the Rehabilitation Center and the Balance Center. The new equipment will enhance Mercy’s ability to effectively treat patients who are diagnosed with vestibular disorders. It will help to improve the patient’s balance, agility and muscle strength.
Lights can be purchased for the Christmas tree in memory of a loved one, in celebration of a special event, or in honor of a special person, with remembrances recorded in a Tree of Lights book that will be displayed in the hospital’s main lobby during the Christmas season.
A special mass will be held at 12:00 noon in the hospital chapel on Tuesday, January 14, 2014 for all those remembered in the Tree of Lights. To purchase a memorial light or for more information about the tree lighting or Mass, please call the League Office at (516) 705-1833.
