WHAT: Convocation: People of Faith in Public Square
The Office of Respect Life, Catholic Charities, The Department of Education, The Office of Faith Formation and Public Policy Advisory Council of the Diocese of Rockville Centre will be sponsoring a convocation entitled “People of Faith in the Public Square” on Saturday, February 27, 2010 from 1:30 PM – 6 PM. The focus is on taking an active role in shaping public policy in the 21st century.
The event will begin with Keynote Speaker, Dr. John DiIulio and will continue with a panel on current public policy issues in New York State. Afterwards, there will be a presentation on Forum Day and the convocation will conclude with Mass presided by The Most Reverend John C. Dunne, auxiliary bishop, Diocese of Rockville Centre.

Professor of Politics, Religious, and Civil Society at the University of Pennsylvania, First Director of the White House Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives. Dr. DiIulio is the author, co-author, and editor of over a dozen books and several hundred articles. He has developed programs to mentor the children of prisoners, provide literacy training in low-income communities, reduce homicides in high-crime police districts, and support inner-city Catholic schools that serve low-income children.
The Most Reverend John. C. Dunne, auxiliary bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Rockville Centre, will be the principal celebrant and homilist.
