This month we look at the life of Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati, who Pope John Paul II named, "The Man of the Beatitudes". His life, though cut short at age 24, did seem to be an expression of how to live our lives in the light of the Beatitudes. It speaks of a LIVING, BREATHING FAITH: that God is always working in us, something is always happening to us which allows Christ to be part of every experience. No moment of our day is vacant, but each is an opportunity to participate in building God's kingdom.
Whether it was climbing a mountain or caring for the poor, Bl. Pier Giorgio's vitality touched everyone and everything. How can we make that our own? To start with, we have to truly live the knowledge that Jesus Christ is our reality, that He walks with us moment by moment and is a genuine presence in our day. Prayer is a necessity, and we should start our day by asking for God's blessing upon our circumstances. Then we should move with the belief that we carry that blessing with us to others.
Each day this month we will look at some aspect of Bl. Pier Giorgio's life and how it can impact our own. Reading the Beatitudes (Matthew 5:3-12) is a beautiful way to begin...
Bl. Pier Giorgio, pray for us!
