"The future is in the hands of God, and better than that it could not be." PGF

Bl. Pier Giorgio was able to live his life moment by moment, completely immersed in the present without being overly concerned about what the future held.  His thoughts were in complete agreement with the words of Christ himself, who told us that our Heavenly Father will take care of our needs:  “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life…is not life more than food and the body more than clothing?...Seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be given you as well.  Do not worry about tomorrow; tomorrow will take care of itself.” (Luke 6:25-34)

To put our future in God’s hands does not mean to sit back and do nothing; it means to live out the Gospel to the best of our ability and in complete trust.  Pier Giorgio did this every day - he enjoyed the life God had given him and shared it with others the way Christ did.  Though not a priest, in a sense he was able to bring to life the words of Christ, “Take, eat, this is my body” as he ministered to one person after another, offering bits of his time, his possessions, his heart to those he met along the journey.

While we cannot foretell the future, we can all be more aware of what future events our current actions might affect.  Can we mend a torn friendship by being more forgiving?  Can we help change the world for one person by sharing our faith?  Can we give our time or a small donation for the poor and helpless?  Like Pier Giorgio Frassati, we can resolve to make the future a little better by our actions each day…

Bl. Pier Giorgio, pray for us!
