|Young Adult Apostolate to Host Day of Waves and Worship|
Faithful to Gather at Our Lady of the Magnificat Mission Chapel, Ocean Beach
ROCKVILLE CENTRE, NEW YORK, June 29, 2007—The Young Adult Apostolate of the Diocese of Rockville Centre will host its third annual Beach Day, a gathering for sun, surf and spirituality, at Our Lady of the Magnificat Mission Chapel, Ocean Beach, N.Y. on Saturday, August 11, 2007.
The day starts at 10:00 a.m. with the opportunity to relax with friends, enjoy deli-style food and participate in beach activities. At 5:00 p.m., there will be time for Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, music and reflection, followed by celebration of Holy Mass.
Alexandra Bastien, coordinator of the Young Adult Apostolate, described Adoration as “time spent in prayer in front of Jesus exposed in the Blessed Sacrament.”
The day will culminate at 6:00 p.m. with a barbeque.
“The Catholic culture can be in everything, even a day at the beach,” Bastien said. “Who you are doesn’t have to take a vacation, even if you’re on vacation.”
Participants should meet at Our Lady of the Magnificat rectory at the Corner of Bungalow Road and Midway. After taking the Fire Island ferry, walk directly south until you get to Midway (a small concrete walkway). Make a right on Midway and walk four to five blocks west until you get to Bungalow Road. The rectory and white, country church will be on your left. Contact the rectory at 631-583-5868 for questions about directions.
To register, RSVP by July 20 to Bastien at 516-678-5800, ext. 616 and bring a food item. The event is open only to individuals in their 20s and 30s.
