ROCKVILLE CENTRE, NEW YORK, April 26, 2005 - Eugene
Fennell has been appointed principal of Holy Trinity
Diocesan High School, Hicksville, N.Y., effective July
1, 2005. Fennell served at Holy Trinity for the past 23
years, first as a teacher and then as dean of students.
Fennell will succeed James J. Boglioli, who will retire
after 38 years at Holy Trinity H.S. Sister Joanne
Callahan, O.S.U., superintendent of schools, Diocese of
Rockville Centre, announced the appointment yesterday to
school administrators and faculty. Students and parents
will be notified today.
“I’m delighted that Gene has accepted the position,”
said Sister Joanne. “His experience as a teacher and
dean of students gives him a clear perspective on life
at Holy Trinity and I know he will successfully lead
this wonderful school into the future. His love for Holy
Trinity, his belief in the students and faculty and his
knowledge of the school will serve him well.”
“We are also grateful to Jim for his 38 years of
dedicated service to Holy Trinity, 18 of which were
leading the school as its principal,” said Sister
Joanne. “Because of Mr. Baglioli’s leadership, Mr.
Fennell takes over a school that is academically
excellent and committed to passing on the faith to the
next generation of students.”
As assistant principal and dean of students, Fennell was
responsible for maintaining a proper learning
environment for the 1700 students and staff, enforcing
state attendance laws and establishing internal
procedures to implement proper attendance in all
classes. Additional duties included assisting in school
budget and curriculum development, supervision of staff
and all student council activities, and the receipt,
disbursement and auditing of program funds. During his
career at Holy Trinity, Fennell served as coach of the
football and lacrosse teams. Fennell also served on the
St. John’s University Catholic High School Principal’s
Advisory Board, the Middle States Advisory Committee and
the National Catholic Education Association.
“I’d like to thank Bishop Murphy and Sister Joanne
Callahan for offering me this exceptional opportunity,”
said Fennell. “I look forward to leading an academically
excellent institution that is committed to passing on
the faith to the next generation of students.”
