Monseñor Peter A. Libasci será ordenado
Obispo Auxiliar el 1ero de junio
ROCKVILLE CENTRE, NEW YORK, mayo 31, 2007 – Monseñor
Peter A. Libasci, 55, será ordenado Obispo Auxiliar para la
diócesis de Rockville Centre, la diócesis de todo Long Island:

Desde 1999, el Obispo electo Libasci ha servido como párroco
de la parroquia Santa Teresa de Lisieux en Montauk. El Obispo
electo Libasci se trasladará al final de este mes a
Southampton donde residirá en la parroquia El Santo Corazón de
Jesús y María (Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary). El Obispo
electo Libasci es bi-ritual y celebra la Divina Liturgia en la
Iglesia Bizantina Rutenía. Una vez ordenado, él asistirá al
Obispo William Murphy en la tarea de liderar a los 1.4
millones de Católicos en Long Island y servirá como Vicario
Episcopal o representante del Obispo Murphy en el Vicariato
del oriente (Condado de Suffolk).
Durante la Misa de ordenación, el Obispo William Murphy
ordenará al obispo electo y lo admitirá en la orden de los
obispos. Durante la Liturgia Eucarística el Obispo Murphy
recitará la antigua oración de ordenación y ungirá al obispo
electo con los Santos oleos. El Obispo electo Libasci recibirá
su anillo Episcopal, la mitra y el crucifijo, y los emblemas
de su oficina pastoral. Un Cardenal y 23 obispos asistirán,
así como cientos de familiares, amigos y clérigos.
El obispo Libasci celebrará su primera Misa como obispo el
sábado 2 de junio a las 5:00 pm en la parroquia Santa Teresa
de Lisieux, Montauk.

Centre (www.drvc.org) was formed in 1957 and covers 1,198
square miles in Nassau and Suffolk Counties. The diocese
