Centre and Tomorrow’s Hope Foundation Hold First Annual
Bike-A-Thon Fundraiser
“Laps for Learning” Event Set for October 21 at Cedar
Creek Park in Seaford |
Rockville Centre, New York, October 17, 2006 – The Tomorrow’s
Hope Foundation and the Education Department of the Diocese of
Rockville Centre will hold the first annual “Laps for
Learning” Bike-A-Thon fundraiser on Saturday, October 21, 2006
at Cedar Creek County Park in Seaford from 10:00 a.m. until
3:00 p.m.
The event, which will include all 58 elementary schools in the
Diocese, will look to raise $100,000 to support Diocesan-wide
curriculum enhancement in the schools. Students will have
three options for the day: a 1-mile walk for all grades; a
2-mile bike ride for grades 3 through 6; and a 4-mile bike
ride for grades 6 though 8.
There is a $10 participation fee for each participant, which
includes a free t-shirt and lunch during the event. Late
registration is allowed on the day of the event but will be
$20 per participant.
Keyspan Energy Corporation, IDP Consulting, Sullivan Builders
Group, the Knights of Columbus, and others are helping to
sponsor the event.
The Tomorrow’s Hope Foundation was created by the Most
Reverend William Murphy, Bishop of Rockville Centre, and was
incorporated in September 2005 as a not-for-profit public
charity. The mission of the Tomorrow’s Hope Foundation is to
ensure the excellence as well as the continuance of Catholic
schools on Long Island by increasing awareness and providing
scholarships and program funding for the needs of students and
schools.

About The Diocese of Rockville Centre
The Diocese of Rockville Centre was formed in 1957 and covers
1,222 square miles in Nassau and Suffolk Counties. The diocese
