New Pastor Appointed to Our Lady of Hope Parish

ROCKVILLE CENTRE,
NEW YORK, July 13, 2007—The Most Reverend William Murphy,
Bishop, Diocese of Rockville Centre, appointed Msgr. Richard
C. Bauhoff pastor of Our Lady of Hope parish, Carle Place,
N.Y., effective July 11, 2007.
Born in the Bronx, N.Y. and raised in Mineola, N.Y., Msgr.
Bauhoff attended St. Mary High School, Manhasset, N.Y. and St.
Pius X High School, then in Uniondale, N.Y. He then attended
St. Pius X Preparatory Seminary, then in Uniondale, N.Y.,
followed by Cathedral College of the Immaculate Conception,
Douglaston, N.Y.
He attended Notre Dame Seminary, New Orleans, and the Seminary
of the Immaculate Conception, Huntington, N.Y.
Ordained a priest on May 26, 1973, Msgr. Bauhoff’s first
assignment was as associate pastor at Our Lady of Perpetual
Help parish, Lindenhurst, N.Y., followed by St. Martin of
Tours parish, Bethpage, N.Y.
In 1983, he was appointed Adjutant Judicial Vicar of the
Diocesan Tribunal, an administrative body assisting with the
judicial power of the diocesan bishop. He served as Judicial
Vicar from 1991 to 1995.
In the late ‘80s and early ‘90s, he served as administrator of
three parishes. He was named pastor of St. Mary parish,
Roslyn, N.Y. in 1995.
Pope John Paul II conferred the papal honor of monsignor on
Msgr. Bauhoff in 1996.

About The Diocese of Rockville Centre
Celebrating its Golden Jubilee, the Diocese of Rockville
Centre (www.drvc.org) was formed in 1957 and covers 1,198
square miles in Nassau and Suffolk Counties. The diocese
serves approximately 1.4 million Catholics (total population
in both counties is approximately 2.8 million). There are 134
parishes in 115 towns. Last year over 18,000 baptisms, 18,000
confirmations, 19,000 first communions and 4,000 marriages
took place in the diocese. There are approximately 22,000
students in Catholic elementary schools; 13,000 in secondary
schools and 3,300 in higher institutions. There are 69
Catholic elementary and high schools and one Catholic college
in the diocese. There are also 120,189 total students in
religious education. Catholic Health Services of Long Island
consists of five hospitals, three nursing homes, a
community-based home for those with special needs and a
hospice. Last year, Catholic Charities assisted more than
59,000 individuals who are poor, vulnerable and disadvantaged
