New Pastor Appointed to Christ the King Parish, Commack

ROCKVILLE CENTRE, NEW YORK, June 26, 2007—The Most Reverend William Murphy, Bishop, Diocese of Rockville Centre, appointed Father Joseph V. Davanzo pastor of Christ the King parish, Commack, N.Y., effective June 27, 2007.

Born and raised in Queens, N.Y., Father Davanzo has a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from St. John’s University, Jamaica, N.Y. He worked as an auditor for Ernst and Whinney in Manhattan, N.Y. and as a financial analyst for Amerada Hess Corp.

He attended the Seminary of the Immaculate Conception, Huntington, N.Y., and was ordained into the priesthood on June 14, 1997.

His first assignment was as associate pastor of St. Hugh of Lincoln parish, Huntington Station, N.Y., followed by St. Joseph parish, Kings Park, N.Y. and most recently as parochial vicar at St. Agnes Cathedral parish, Rockville Centre, N.Y. In addition to serving St. Agnes parish, he also currently serves in the diocesan Office of Worship.

Celebrating its Golden Jubilee, the Diocese of Rockville Centre (www.drvc.org) was formed in 1957 and covers 1,198 square miles in Nassau and Suffolk Counties.
