St. Padre Pio and the Key to God's Heart Print E-mail

“In books we seek God, in prayer we find Him.  Prayer is the key which opens God’s heart.” (St. Padre Pio)

To open the heart of God!  To have access to the greatest Love of all, a Love which is eternity itself!  It is a secret which we all possess - the simplest and yet deepest of all our devotions:  prayer.  We say that we “enter into” prayer; in a sense we become part of it, giving of ourselves to God.  In return God gives back to us of Himself; and in that most beautiful of prayers, the Mass, we take God in, completing a divine cycle.

At the baptism of Jesus, St. Luke tells us that “while he (Jesus) was praying, heaven opened and the Holy Spirit descended on him in bodily form like a dove. And a voice came from heaven: 'You are my Son, whom I love; with you I am well pleased.'(Luke 3:21-22).  Christ opened heaven with His prayer.  In our minds we picture that glorious scene of long ago, but the same opportunity to part heaven awaits us today – all we need do is come to our Father in expectation and love.  Today, use the key of prayer to unlock God's heart.

St. Padre Pio, pray for us!
