All are welcome to join in prayer for the intention of an
increase in vocations to the priesthood and consecrated life.
The Holy Hour, sponsored by the Friends of the Seminary,
will include exposition and benediction and is held on the third Friday
of each month at 8:00pm

The St. Thèrése Prayer Society for Vocations

At the sight of the crowds, his heart was moved with pity...He said to his disciples: "The harvest is abundant but the laborers are few; beg the master of the harvest to send out laborers to gather his harvest." - Matthew 9:36-38

Tomorrow's priests and religious live in our parishes today. In responding to a call from Christ to follow Him as a priest or religious, they are following a voice which in many ways goes against the values of the contemporary world. They need our help. They need, above all, our support. What can we do? Infinitely more than we might realize!

The only "vocation plan" we find Christ giving to his disciples is prayer. "Beg" Jesus says, "the master of the harvest to send out laborers to gather his harvest." The St. Thèrése Prayer Society for Vocations is for men and women in our Diocese who are willing to devote themselves to prayerfully supporting priests and religious of today and tomorrow.

As a member of The St. Thèrése Prayer Society for Vocations, you commit yourself to praying in a special way for vocations to the Priesthood and Consecrated Life. Prayer for Vocations in the
Diocese of Rockville Centre

Gracious and loving God, help the
men and women of our parish
hear the call to serve in the
Diocese of Rockville Centre.

Our needs are great and our
people thirst for your presence.

Open our hearts, raise up faithful
servants of the Gospel, dedicated,
holy priests, sisters, brothers and
deacons, who will spend
themselves for your people and
their needs.

Bless those who are serving now
with courage and perseverance.

Grant that many will be inspired by
their example and faith.

We ask this through
Christ our Lord.

Prayer to the Blessed Mother for Vocations

Most Holy Virgin, certain of your intercession we pray that the mysteries of the Risen Christ and of the Holy Spirit may enlighten many persons to become willing and generous servants of the Church.

We pray for our youth to whom the Lord addresses a special invitation of closer fellowship with Himself. May they refuse to be carried away by the things of this world, but open their hearts instead to the friendly voice that calls them. May they feel capable of making a life-long commitment to Christ and to His Church, for the salvation of humankind. May they trust that Divine Grace will endow them with the power to make a total offering of themselves as they feel the attraction of priestly, religious and missionary life.

We pray for all Christian families, that they may provide a favorable atmosphere for their youngsters and help them make the right choices. We beseech you that all priests and religious be an example to our youth by their availability and humble readiness to accept the gifts of the Holy Spirit. May they be able to extend to all, the fruits of love and peace.

Parents Prayer for Vocations

Gracious and loving God
you have blessed us with the privilege of becoming Parents.
We ask that you provide us with all that we need
in accepting this awesome responsibility.

We pray that we will be open to your spirit
who is our source of strength
as we witness to our children

your love for each of them and your desire for them
to be happy and to live a full life.

We ask your help
so we may guide and encourage our children
to believe that they each have a special calling
and to use their gifts and talents for others.

We pray, Heavenly Father,
that our children will discover
and respond enthusiastically to your desire for them
whether it be to the vocation of single, married,
ordained or consecrated life.

We offer this prayer in the name of Jesus
through the grace of the Holy Spirit.

Prayer for Discerners

O Divine Master,
Grant
that I always seek
Your Will before all else
that I heed
Your Voice above the noise
that I behold
Your Way through the fog

Increase, I ask
the tiny seed that is my faith
That I might love Your people
with a love like Yours
And usher into being
the vocation which is mine.

Prayer for Seminarians

Loving God, thank you for blessing
the Diocese of Rockville Centre with generous
men who are considering a priestly vocation.
Guide them as they prepare to be of service to your people. Support them in their struggles and allow the Spirit to open their hearts to the wonders of a life devoted to your Church.

Enable the faithful men and women who are
involved in their formation to enlighten these men to the
glory of your ways. Help our communities to recognize and
to joyfully receive the gift of each unique vocation.

We make this prayer through
Christ our Lord.

Prayer for Religious

O Father, you desire all of us to
be happy. Stir up the grace of a
religious vocation in the hearts of
many men and women. Grant to
them the willingness and generosity
to give of themselves,
their lives, their time and their
talents to the service of Jesus
Christ, Your Son, Our Lord and

Savior, and to His Holy Church.
May more men and women go
forth as priests, deacons,
brothers and sisters to bring the
truths of our Catholic faith to all
others so that soon they, too,
may know You better and love
You more...and serving You, be
truly happy. Amen.

Prayer for Priests

Loving God,
you have blessed your church
by sending us holy men to serve as priests.
Guide and sustain (name of priest)
Lord, as he shepherds your flock
in imitation of your Son.
Enable him to remain true
to the promises he made at ordination
and let Your Spirit inspire him
to joyfully proclaim the Good News
and administer the sacraments.

Allow the bonds of friendship,
especially with his brother priests,
to strengthen him as he meets the
challenges of daily life. Enrich him
with grace as he lives out his vocation
in the ministerial priesthood by
both serving and providing leadership
for your faithful followers.
