"I ask you to pray a lot for me, because I desperately need from God the grace to carry out my projects to good effect.  Only prayers can obtain from God the desired improvement."  PGF

How Pier Giorgio needed his friends' prayers!   And how we all do!  Asking for prayer is never a selfish act, because it truly is through our prayers for one another that God's graces flow.  There is a supernatural connection between members of Christ's Body which Jesus himself spoke about:

"Simon, Simon, Satan has asked to sift all of you like wheat, but I have prayed that your own faith may not fail; and once you have turned back, you must strengthen your brothers." (Luke 22:31-32)

Imagine - Christ, God Himself, praying for Peter's faith!  And notice what He tells Peter he then must do:  stregthen his community with his own prayer, and with his renewed faith.  Intercessory prayer, calling down the graces of the Holy Spirit for family, friends, those we may not know, and yes, even our enemies, is a vital part of Christianity.  Bl. Pier Giorgio asked for prayer and spent much of his own time in prayer for others.  We, too, can spread our prayers across the wounds of our world...

Bl. Pier Giorgio, pray for us!
