Smithtown, NY 11787 – St. Catherine of Siena Nursing and Rehabilitation Care Center honored their veterans with an event that included a visit from Suffolk County Legislator John Kennedy. Legislator Kennedy spoke to the veterans representing WWII, the Korean War and the Vietnam War and thanked each one of them individually for their service to the country, including patient Frank Mannino.  Frank was enlisted out of high school at 18 years old and served as a cook for the Army.  In his first year of service he was sent to the battlefield everyday by helicopter to feed the troops. During Frank’s second year of service he worked in the mess hall on the base as a cook and served the soldiers that were returning from battle. The event also included a touching power point that listed all of the residents who had served in the military- their branch of service and the war they served in
