ROCKVILLE CENTRE, NEW YORK – July 6, 2018 — Bishop-elect Richard Garth Henning will be ordained an auxiliary bishop of the Diocese of Rockville Centre at a Mass of Episcopal Ordination at Saint Agnes Cathedral, Rockville Centre on Tuesday, July 24th, at 2:00 p.m. On Monday, July 23rd, Evening Prayer or Vespers will be held at the Church of Our Lady of Loretto in Hempstead (104 Greenwich St., Hempstead, NY 11550), beginning at 7:00 p.m.
Most Reverend John O. Barres, bishop, Diocese of Rockville Centre, will preside at the Ordination Mass. The Ordination Mass will be open seating and all are welcome to attend.
The Ordination will be broadcast live on Telecare, the Diocesan television network (Cablevision channel 29/137, Verizon FiOS TV channel 296, Time Warner Cable channel 471). Prior to the beginning of the Ordination Mass, various choirs from around the Diocese will provide a musical prelude to the Ordination. Telecare will broadcast live this sacred musical performance beginning at1:00 p.m.
On Monday, July 23rd, the Church of Our Lady of Loretto in Hempstead (104 Greenwich St., Hempstead, NY 11550) will hold Evening Prayer, or Vespers, beginning at 7:00 p.m. Bishop Barres will preside at Vespers, which will be offered for Bishop-elect Henning and will be broadcast later that night on Telecare at 9:00 p.m. Bishop-elect Henning will be the principal homilist at Vespers that evening. Evening prayer will be open seating and all are welcome to attend.
