"Man's greatness lies in being faithful to the present moment." (Fr. Solanus Casey)
Have you ever let a moment slip by and regretted it? Perhaps there was something you could have done to change the tone of a conversation, or step out of your comfort zone to help someone or encourage another, but you let the moment slip by. You may have felt a sinking feeling in the pit of your stomach as you realized that you had missed a chance (again!) to do the right thing.
It takes great effort to be faithful to the present moment, to be “authentic” and true in all of our dealings with others, but it is so important – it is truly why God created us: to live in, and be thankful for, this day.
Scripture reminds us: “For everything there is a season, and a time for every purpose under heaven.” (Ecclesiastes 3:1) Each moment of our day has purpose before God; each waits in eager expectation for fulfillment. Today, pray that you have an awareness of time, a recognition of some of the moments in your life, because the consequences of a moment can affect eternity...
Ven. Solanus Casey, pray for us!
