ROCKVILLE CENTRE, NEW YORK, June 27, 2007—The Most Reverend William Murphy, Bishop, Diocese of Rockville Centre, appointed Father Marian R. Bicz pastor of Our Lady of Ostrabrama parish, Cutchogue, N.Y.,
effective June 27, 2007.

Born and raised in Poland, Father Bicz earned a master’s degree in philosophy from the Catholic Academy of Theology, Warsaw, Poland. He attended SS. Cyril and Methodius Seminary, Orchard Lake, Mich. and was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Rockville Centre on
June 4, 1988.

He spent his pastoral year at Blessed Sacrament parish, Valley Stream, N.Y. His first assignment was as associate pastor of Our Lady of the Assumption parish, Copiague, N.Y., followed by St. Catherine of Sienna parish, Franklin Square, N.Y. He has served as associate pastor at St. Patrick parish, Glen Cove, N.Y. since 1999.

Celebrating its Golden Jubilee, the Diocese of Rockville Centre ( was formed in 1957 and covers 1,198 square miles in Nassau and Suffolk Counties. The diocese serves approximately 1.4 million Catholics (total population in both counties is approximately 2.8 million). There are 134 parishes in 115 towns. Last year over 18,000 baptisms, 18,000 confirmations, 19,000 first communions and 4,000 marriages took place in the diocese.
