ROCKVILLE CENTRE, NEW YORK, June 28, 2007—The Most Reverend William Murphy, Bishop, Diocese of Rockville Centre, appointed Father Anthony Iaconis pastor of St. Peter the Apostle parish, Islip Terrace, N.Y., effective June 27, 2007.
Born in Valley Stream, N.Y. and raised in Levittown, N.Y., Father Iaconis earned a bachelor’s degree in theology from Molloy College, Rockville Centre, N.Y. and a Master of Divinity from the Seminary of the Immaculate Conception, Huntington, N.Y.
He was ordained a priest on June 14, 1997. His first assignment was as associate pastor of St. Jude parish, Mastic Beach, N.Y., followed by St. Barnabas the Apostle parish, Bellmore, N.Y. He served his pastoral year at Our Holy Redeemer parish, Freeport, N.Y.
Prior to his ordination, Father Iaconis worked as a sales counselor at Holy Rood Cemetery, Westbury, N.Y.

Celebrating its Golden Jubilee, the Diocese of Rockville Centre (www.drvc.org) was formed in 1957 and covers 1,198 square miles in Nassau and Suffolk Counties. The diocese serves approximately 1.4 million Catholics (total population in both counties is approximately 2.8 million). There are 134 parishes in 115 towns.
