RE: Family Separation on U.S./Mexico Boarder

FROM: Sean P. Dolan

Most Reverend John O. Barres, Bishop of Rockville Centre, echoes the statement of Daniel Cardinal DiNardo, President of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops in expressing deep concern over the separation of families of undocumented immigrants at the U.S./Mexico border.

Bishop Barres asks of us: “As we celebrate World Refugee Day today, as we near the one year anniversary of the visit to our diocese of His Eminence Jose Gregorio Rosa Chavez, and the upcoming canonization of Blessed Archbishop Oscar Romero on October 14, 2018, please join me in praying that our government finds a compassionate and life affirming solution to the separation of families along our southern border and for comprehensive immigration reform for our nation that is built upon the principals of the dignity of the human person, social justice, the sanctity of human life and the family, and a love for the poor.”
