ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. – March 30, 2010 –Catholic Men’s Ministries announced today the second annual Catholic Men’s Conference.  The purpose of the Men’s Conference is to gather Catholic men together as an opportunity to share the joys and challenges of being a Catholic man and father in today’s world.

On Saturday, April 24th, 2010, men aged 20 and older from across Long Island are invited to Holy Trinity Diocesan High School, Hicksville, NY for a day of prayer, motivational speakers, fellowship and receipt of the Sacraments.  The Conference will gather men in prayer and fellowship to be inspired to go out into the world to fight for the dignity of every human being and to protect those in their care. The theme for the day is “As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another” (Proverbs 27:17).

“The family is the basic building block of society, and as men we are called to love and lead our families in faith amidst an increasingly secular and hostile culture,” said Bishop William Murphy. “This year's conference theme ‘As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another’ (Proverbs 27:17) reminds us of the importance that in our common mission we are called to support and strengthen our vocations.”

The Catholic Men’s Ministry of Long Island is a group of Catholic men, from all vocations and walks of life, that have come together to make a difference in the in the minds and hearts of the people of Long Island and that difference begins with faith-filled men.

The day-long event will begin at 8AM and end at 5PM. Throughout the day, speakers will present discussions on various topics after which break-out discussion sessions will be held. Mass, celebrated by Bishop William Murphy, will be held at 4PM.
