ZglejszewskiROCKVILLE CENTRE, NEW YORK – March 21, 2014 – On March 25, 2014 at 2:00 p.m., -- the Feast of the Annunciation, the Most Reverend William Murphy will ordain Reverend Monsignor Andrzej Jerzy Zglejszewski, 52, - as auxiliary bishop for the Diocese of Rockville Centre, at a Mass of Episcopal Ordination to be celebrated in the Cathedral of Saint Agnes, 29 Quealy Place, Rockville Centre, NY 11570. The appointment was publicized in Washington on February 11, 2014 by Archbishop Carlo Maria Viganò, apostolic nuncio to the United States.

The Episcopal Ordination is a ticketed event and only those people holding a valid ticket will be permitted inside St. Agnes Cathedral. Telecare, the television station of the Diocese of Rockville Centre, (Cablevision Channel 29/137 and Verizon FiOS TV Channel 296) will air the ordination live at 2:00 p.m. EDT and will rebroadcast the Mass at 7:00 PM EDT. Bishop-Elect Zglejszewski was born in Czarna Biarostocta, Poland in December 18, 1961. The son of Tadeusz and Anna Zglejszewski, Andrzej studied philosophy and theology in Bialystok before coming to the United States in 1987. Bishop-Elect Zglejszewski completed his studies for the priesthood at the Seminary of the Immaculate Conception, Huntington, New York. He was ordained a priest of the Diocese of Rockville Centre by Bishop John R. McGann on May 26, 1990. After his ordination, Bishop-Elect Zglejszewski served as an associate pastor in the Parish of Saint Christopher, Baldwin (1990-1995), in the parish of Saint Thomas the Apostle, West Hempstead (1995-2003) and the parish of Saint Rose of Lima, Massapequa (2003-2007). Then in 2007, he was appointed by Bishop Murphy director of the Diocesan Office of Worship and in 2012, he was appointed co-chancellor, Diocese of Rockville Centre.

As Auxiliary Bishop, Bishop-Elect Zglejszewski will join Auxiliary Bishop Nelson Perez, Vicar of the Eastern Vicariate and Vicar for the Hispanic Apostolate of the Diocese of Rockville Centre Bishop Robert Brennan, Vicar General and Moderator of the Curia of the Diocese.
