Diocese of Rockville Centre

Rockville Centre, NY – Catholic Health Services (CHS) Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer (CIO) Marcy Dunn has been named one of “100 Hospital and Health System CIOs to Know” by Becker’s Hospital Review. This is an acknowledgement of her ability to leverage existing and new technology to further the mission of CHS, while elevating the level of patient care.

Becker’s recognized Dunn and her fellow honorees for “seeing the opportunity in challenges and innovating new solutions in a constantly changing field” throughout their careers. Under Dunn’s leadership, IT staff worked with personnel at CHS’s hospitals to implement the Epic electronic medical record (EMR) system, an initiative known as CHS eHealth. This effort recently culminated in the achievement of Stage 6 (out of seven possible stages) on the HIMSS Analytics EMR Maturity Model, placing all five CHS hospitals live on the EMR in the top 12% in the nation. HIMSS Analytics, an independent, not-for-profit subsidiary of Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS), ranks hospitals from Stage 0 to Stage 7, the highest category. Only 2% of all U.S. hospitals have achieved Stage 7, with none so far in New York.

Marcy“Marcy’s guidance and leadership have helped CHS successfully implement the latest electronic medical system and stay abreast of current IT changes,” said CHS’s Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Colleen Blye.

Prior to joining CHS in 2001, Dunn consulted for the organization to convert the information systems for the then newly acquired St. Catherine of Siena Medical Center, after serving as CIO for Episcopal Health Services, where she oversaw the implementation of information systems for clinical data repository, pharmacy, operating room, radiology and other services. She earned a bachelor of science degree in biology, as well as a bachelor’s degree in psychology, from Syracuse University. She is a member of HIMSS and CHIME and resides in Stony Brook with her husband, Dave.
